Automatic Night Light Improving Toilet Training
If you are in the midst of toilet training a toddler you may very well be knee deep in extra washing. From the clothing to the bedding it can be an absolute nightmare. I however think that an automatic night light improves toilet training during the night.
My son was the absolute worst when it came to toilet training. Typically most nights he would wet the bed. We would leave the hallway and toilet light on. And by doing so I have a strong tendency to think this action kept the entire household awake except my son.
We put plastic covers on his mattress to protect it. The stuff made lots of noise, I thought it would help to wake him up. I know boys are far more difficult to toilet train than girls. Well this is my theory anyway as both of my older girls adapted to toilet training so easily. Where as my son did not! He was the absolute opposite.
Due to my inability to continuously wash the bedsheets and so forth everyday, I sat down with my son and asked him why he did not get up in the night to go to the bathroom. Bear in mind we also did the no drink method one hour before bed. Still no results. Anyway he soon explained that he indeed was scared to get out of bed. He knew the hallway light was on and also that the bathroom light was on. But he was too afraid to walk through the darkness of his room to get into the light.
Well I felt so dreadful after that! At the time I thought I would have to leave a lamp on all night. That was until I discovered an automatic night light. Obviously now I have a lot of knowledge where children’s night lights are concerned but at the time I knew nothing of them. I knew nothing of the fact that this particular product would solve far more than my distaste for extra washing! We would all sleep through the night without the bright light in the hallway, my son would feel more confident to get out of bed and my washing quota would diminish rather quickly.
Automatic night lights do vary in features. Some are simple like the led sensing night light and some do everything except feed the kids like the ever popular Cloud B Night Light. Some models are automatic in the sense that if movement is detected the light will activate. Most of these sensor lights also turn themselves off after a couple of minutes and in some cases they will stay on for 45mins or so. You can chose to program some makes or simply turn them on and off manually.
They are ideal to have in the hallways, bathrooms and bedrooms. I thought it would also be worthwhile mentioning that they are extremely cost effective to run. Just make sure you buy the varieties that come with led bulbs.
